Programme 20th - 21st August

Friday Evening, 20th August

7:30-9:00 pm

The historical basis of the Christian faith

This session will show how Christian faith has to be rooted in specific historical facts in the Old and New Testaments. That’s why Christians have a message about the real world.

Saturday Morning, 21st August

Currently the Bible is under attack in many ways from sceptics, but at the same time many Christians also have their own doubts and questions about the Bible. These two sessions will look at some of the toughest questions that are asked about the Bible and equip Christians to deal with them: Doesn’t the Old Testament support genocide and slavery? Who decided which books to put in the Bible? Have books been missed out? Can we know that we have the text that the authors wrote, or could it have changed? One session will address the most common attacks on the Old Testament and a second, the attacks on the New Testament.

10:00-11:00am

Responding to contemporary attacks on the Old Testament

(Question & Answer period following talk)

11:00-11:30am - Coffee Break

Saturday Evening, 21st August

7:30-9:00pm

Evangelistic Event - Can we trust the Gospels?

Are there reasons for complete sceptics to take the Gospels seriously? This session, directed towards people of any faith or no faith, will argue that there are good reasons to believe that the Gospels give us eyewitness testimony to Jesus.

Tyndale House

Set amid the buildings of the University of Cambridge, Tyndale House is a Christian community dedicated to researching all the primary evidence relevant to the study of the Bible. It possesses one of the finest libraries for biblical research in the world, packed with specialist material on the language, culture, history, and meaning of the Bible. It also has facilities for medium and long-term accommodation.

The House enjoys close links with the University of Cambridge and many postgraduates, church leaders, and visiting scholars have found it an ideal setting for their own study.

The scholars and publications that have come from Tyndale House since its founding in 1944 have had a worldwide impact, and all major modern Protestant Bible translations have benefited significantly from the input of scholars associated with the House.
